If you are receiving an error 15 upon starting up the bike, it typically indicates an issue with the throttle/throttle cable/button. An error 15 can be triggered by a few things, most commonly:
- Physical damage to the throttle, throttle sensor, or cable leading from the throttle into the bike
- Dropping the bike onto the throttle can cause damage to the internal electronics, which can trigger the error 15
- Water damage inside of the throttle
- Turning on the bike while the throttle is twisted (engaged)
- An issue with the bike's internal controller (not related to the throttle itself)
- Throttle button is stuck
Please try each step below and if the error persists, please move onto the next step:
- Turn on the bike and ensure nothing touches the throttle/throttle button. Ensure the twist throttle is resting at its natural position while powering up.
- Make sure no dirt/debris is causing the throttle button to be stuck
- Inspect the throttle, throttle sensor, and cable for physical damage. Please take a moment to follow the throttle cable all the way down through the forks and cable sheathing to the connection point under the seat, looking for any damage. We recommend taking a video of this.
- Please also take a moment to check the connection point under the seat and ensure the cable and pins are making proper contact and not damaged. The internal connection point on the throttle should be blue. Please ensure that the two arrows on the cabling are facing eachother to ensure proper alignment
If you do not notice any damage to your throttle and you are still experiencing error 15 upon start up, please contact customer support with the following:
- Pictures of your throttle/throttle button
- A close-up video tracing the throttle cable from the handle down through the bike
- Confirmation that diagnostics were sent from the Onewheel app
Below are instructions on how to send diagnostics:
- Connect to the app with a smart device through the “My Rides” page.
- Be sure your app has access to Wi-Fi.
- Once connected, click on the gear icon to access the bike stats.
- When you scroll to the bottom of the page, you will see a banner reading “DIAGNOSTICS”.
- Please tap the banner, then “SEND DIAGNOSTICS” and it will give you an option to comment on the diagnostics.
- Please type a comment with your full name, email address, and bike's serial number.
